Ethical Practice in Real-World, Culturally Complex Care

Register here!

Because ethics don’t just live in crisis moments.

Ethics live in culturally-intelligent documentation, culturally sensitive disclosure, identity awareness, creating psychological safety, and power balance. In other words–in overlooked ways–every single day.

Most ethics training focuses on rules. But real ethical dilemmas in counseling rarely feel that simple.

  • Sometimes clinicians follow the ethics code exactly as written… and still feel uneasy about the outcomes
  • Sometimes clients hesitate to share something important—not because they lack trust, but because they’re weighing real consequences.
  • Sometimes what looks like resistance in therapy is actually risk calculation.

These are the ethical moments we don’t talk about enough. In this training, we’ll examine questions many clinicians quietly wrestle with:

  • Can something be ethically compliant and still create harm?
  • How do institutional systems shape ethical decisions in counseling?
  • Are clients truly safe enough to tell the truth in therapy?
  • How do professional norms influence authenticity in the therapy room?

Rather than focusing only on compliance with ethics codes, this training explores how ethical care unfolds where policy, culture, power, and human vulnerability intersect. If you’re a clinician who has ever felt that ethical decision-making is more complicated than the textbooks suggest, this conversation is for you.
